On a full moon evening, sometime in late November is a festival called Loi Krathong. The Thai Buddists believe that if you say a little prayer, say something positve and launch a Krathong into the sky or the water, your wishes will come true. For foreingners, it's just a crazy good, nutty time. With thousands of these parachute things shooting up into the sky..then they hang there till the fire goes out and they drop. Now a days all the Krathongs made are biodegradable. Also, there are little boats that they launch into the river, lake or sea. Where did it originate? They say it's from ancient times and has to do with giving thanks to the water spirits.

Songkran Festival
Songkran is the Thai Traditional New Year, it falls on the 13th, 14th, 15th, of April.
In Pattaya, it goes for a few days longer, it is one wet time. It is a week of water fights, you'll be going to the pharmacy to get the prickly heat medication.
You'll be wet, it'll be hot! You have to see it to believe it, get your water gun and come on over. (don't forget 3 pairs of swim suits) It's never a dull moment and don't expect just because you're on a motorbike, you're excused from getting wet, Thai
people take great pride in taking it a step farther in extremes. It can be dangerous,
be careful!
